Accessibility

The PurpleStone.co.uk website has been written with accessibility in mind. Strict XHTML and CSS standards have been adeared to, making this website easy for screen reading applications to cope with. Our use of CSS allows you to completely change the look of the website, through the use of our alternate CSS schemes.

You can change your layout preferences using the links below. Once you have made your selections, they will be stored on your computer using a cookie. This allows us to apply your settings to every page you visit on the site.

The two links below allow you to toggle on and off 'high visibility' and 'large print' modes. The 'high visibility' mode converts the website to yellow text on a black background. This can be especially useful for those who normally need high-contrast displays. The 'large print' mode changes all the text on the site to above 18pt, which is the standard 'large print' size for printed documents and also applies double line spacing throughout the site. You can enable both modes together if you so wish.

PurpleStone.co.uk’s strict application of other conventions also aids your viewing experience. Acronymns used on the site are tagged correctly, allowing browsers such as Internet Explorer and FireFox 2 to display the full expansion of the TLA when you move your mouse over it.

Pages that contain forms use the tab-index attribute to ensure you can tab through pages in a sensible order. Additionally on every page, the link to this accessibility page is the first link in the tab order, so you can reach it from any page in two keystrokes.
